Science Day: IQAC and Science Department of
Government First Grade College, Malur, observed National Science Day and
World Mother Tongue Day at Edusat Hall of the college on February 21.
The
chief guest, food technologist K.C. Raghu said: “Mere studying of
science was not enough, one must live science”. Adopting a scientific
approach is important, he said.
Mr. Raghu elaborated
on how the changing food habit is affecting health. If the food we
consume becomes the doctor there is no fear of suffering from ill
health, he emphasised.
Besides interacting with the
students, Mr. Raghu attempted to create interest in science reading
among students by exhibiting a number of science books.
Principal
of the college and writer Chandrashekhar Nangali explained the
importance of using the mother tongue. There was no place for one
national language concept in India where hundreds of languages exist, he
said.
February 21 is being observed as World Mother Tongue Day as per the 1999 UNESCO declaration.
Mr.
Chandrashekhar said one must remember that the developed countries of
the world have achieved advancement through the gateway of their
respective mother tongues.
