Motorola launched Moto E 2nd generation smartphone in India today. The new Moto E 3G variant will be available exclusively on Flipkart, priced at Rs 6,999, starting March 11 midnight.
In the new Moto E 2nd generation 3G version, the 5MP rear camera now has auto-focus but doesn’t come with flash. It does have a VGA front-facing camera for taking selfies. The device also comes with Motorola’s Quick Capture feature, which allows users to launch the camera with two twists of the wrist.
The device sports a 4.5-inch qHD display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels display with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, Moto E 2nd gen is powered by a
1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 CPU with 1GB RAM and 8GB
internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB and a 2,390 mAh
battery.
With the new Moto E 2nd generation, the users will also get premium Moto experiences like Moto Display for notifications and updates without interruptions. Also on offer is Moto Migrate to easily transfer contacts, photos and videos to your new phones.
Motorola has said that the 4G LTE version will soon be launched in India but pricing and availability of the device are still to be finalised. The company is hoping to bring Moto E 4G version of its popular affordable smartphone to India by May this year and price it under Rs 10,000 in order to compete with brands like Xiaomi and Yu. Xiaomi sells Redmi Note 4G at Rs 9,999 while Yu Yureka retails for Rs 8,999.
Globally, the 4G variant of Moto E is priced at $149.99. It runs on a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 64-bit CPU.
Motorola, which was acquired by Chinese technology giant Lenovo from Google Inc, said it crossed the three million device sales mark with the Moto E and Moto G making up almost 80—85 per cent of the sales. Apart from these two devices, the company also sales Moto X, Moto Turbo, Moto 360 in India.
